Glass Tigger

AF-HoldOn-cover-70.jpg

Little did I know, Alan Frew from Glass Tiger has a solo career.

Above is his most recent album cover. Perhaps it's also his moist recent, as my initial typo would have had it.

I'm putting it here to share with y'all. Their image consultants were always just soo... what's that word I'm looking for?... I'm not sure what it is.

Call me silly, but I didn't realize Glass Tiger were a gay band. I mean, I knew they were a gay band. I didn't realize they were a gay gay band.

Am I not right to draw this conclusion? Is there not an implied gayness to Alan's promotional aesthetic?

Lately, everywhere I go, I hear Glass Tiger and I don't know what it's about. "Don't forget me when I'm gone". "Someday". Others.

I just read about how they do re-union tours, and I'm thinking they might be a fun band to go out and support.

I'm not kidding. I really do.

I know: You're thinking I'm extremely uncool right now.

What you don't realize is, I've embraced radical uncoolness to the extreme.

And there is, quite frankly, nothing uncooler than that!

(Gay jokes are wrong - I know, I know. But so are glass tiger jokes! It's, uh, one of those complex double-negative-thingies, see?)

Regarding the Alan Frew "Hold On" CD: this is not Alan's most recent solo release. His most recent is "Wonderland" which was released in 2000.

Also, let me make it quite clear to you, neither Alan, nor any of the other members of Glass Tiger, are gay. Why would you think that? Apparently you have never heard their third album "Simple Mission". Take a listen to that and tell me how "gay" that sounds!

Sorry, Alan.

You are a dick

Posted by: on March 4, 2004 10:22 PM .

Dudes, I'll still support your re-union tour anyway. I'm sorry for being an uncool, gay, dick. My point is still valid if you're ready for it - you're limiting your comeback potential with an album cover like that. It's the 80s all over again, and you guys could be back on top in an giffy. It really does seem like you're indicating your chief demographic is exclusively gay. And that makes it harder for your legions of insecure hetero fans to get behind your act without lapsing into infantile gay jokes.

Ok?

Posted by: ÿ on March 5, 2004 09:34 AM .

What the FUCK are you talking about, you gay prick? Are you referring to the album cover for "Simple Mission" or the album cover for "Hold On"? You state that "it really does seem like you're indicating your chief demographic is exclusively gay". Is that so? Is that why Glass Tiger had and still have mostly female fans following them around the world for the past 20 years? Go to any Alan Frew concert and you will see 90 percent women there. And take it from me, I can definitely PROVE to you that Alan Frew, nor the rest of Glass Tiger, IS NOT GAY! Why do you keep saying that they are gay? Explain this to me, will you? What makes them gay? I don't think a man who was once married, flirts with women like there's no tomorrow, sleeps with countless women over time, including cheating on his girlfriend with many, many women could be considered gay. If you knew these guys at all, you would reconsider your thinking. Wait till Alan hears about this....

Posted by: on March 10, 2004 09:37 PM .

this guy's bogus. he don't know no glass tiger. shit's way too tongue-in-cheek.

so that means the jury's still out on alan's sexual orientation as far as i'm concerned.

Posted by: tv on March 11, 2004 12:17 PM .

I do too know Glass Tiger and I know Alan Frew even better. And secondly, I'm NOT a guy...I am a woman. How else do you think I'd know how Alan is in bed? Hmm???? Can you figure it out or do I have to spell it out for you? By the way, in case you really want to know, Alan and his wife Marcy are expecting a baby girl in early summer....So, really, you pricks, how gay do you think Alan is now? Hmmmm????

Posted by: on March 11, 2004 03:01 PM .

Boy, do I feel stupid.

Posted by: ÿ on March 11, 2004 03:56 PM .

Hey, the woman is right! I can vouch for her. Alan is NOT gay and neither are any of the other guys in Glass Tiger. I mean, c'mon, guys, 35 women at FREWVENTION can't be wrong! One-hundred thousand screaming women at the ACC can't be wrong. Alan is a wonderful man. He does a lot for his fans and others. You should not go around saying things about someone that you cannot prove. My friend and I CAN prove that Alan is NOT GAY so unless YOU can prove that HE IS GAY, it would be appreciated if you would please keep your thoughts about Alan Frew to yourself. Thank you. Now I have to tell Alan to pay your little blog a visit....

Posted by: MissM on March 11, 2004 05:27 PM .

I love how multitasking your blog is; here it serves as an impromptu Bullshit Groupie Forum, over there it's some sort of flogging-dead-horse political forum, somewhere else you're swooning sweetly (w/photos), round the back your politely sniping at a terrible comedian, and up front you've got an unattributed image taken from a bizarre Dutch furniture designer/weapons and room-sized vagina manufacturer. What the fuck can't you have here!?! (Oh for some italics!)

Posted by: TheDiscourse on March 11, 2004 09:58 PM .

I really hate reading all this bullshit about ALAN and GT here! None of this band is gay, beware! I am woman and can PROVE this!

Alan is doing so much for his fans ..

I know the band personally and Alan even better.... wait till Alan and Marcy hears about this.

Posted by: on March 12, 2004 08:40 AM .

Note to everybody: "Wait until Alan hears about this!" is the best threat I've heard in my life. What's he gonna do: kill himself? Do you think he cares? Does any straight man comfortable in his own skin care when some insecure blithering idiot with a weblog mouths off about how faggy his album covers look? I'm wrong, ok?!?! It was an honest mistake. I really believed he must have, unbeknownst to me, come out of the closet. I should have done more research: I admit it; I've been faulted. So you guys - sorry, girls - all, possibly at the same time, screwed Alan behind the back of his unsuspecting girlfriend? So this is better than being homo in the eyes of Alan Frew's fan base. I move on with my life. I learn and grow. It all comes clear. I'm the gay one. I was the one who felt gay looking at the album cover up the bum-hole of a naked man atop this thread. I'm gay ok. OK? A dumb gay prick, as is evidenced by the fact I a) sincerely like Glass Tiger's song Someday and regard it to be a genuine pop masterpiece, and b) am applying myself to the process of addressing these comments. Please: don't tell Alan! I plead with you. He doesn't need to know about any of this. I truly hate the idea of hurting his feelings, assuming he's silly enough to be phased by this rubbish, which - I'd have to say - given the quality of people he allegedly boffs, might even be the case.

Please girls, listen to reason!

I'd heard "Alan" had found this blog. Looks like he had one of his hench women do his fighting for him, which seems to be his norm these days. Alan, I know I'll never forgive you for some things you said to me some time ago. Sad thing is, I got to know you before the fame went to your head, but when it went to your head your ego couldn't handle it. You chose to listen to the lies of some fans who were stalking you, so you turned on one of the real friends you had in your life. And now you're playing in bars. My, my, remember your words "if we'd met in a bar it would have been alot different"? So I take it the people you meet now are much better friends to you and treated your family much, much better than I ever did. You're just a has-been with a huge ego. I feel sorry for you.

Posted by: a former fan on May 11, 2004 12:54 PM .

Grow up former fan...move on.

Posted by: on May 11, 2004 01:49 PM .

I agree. Everyone off Alan's back. The guy's awesome.

Posted by: ÿ on May 11, 2004 03:33 PM .

If you overlook Alan's promiscuity and ego, he really isn't that bad a guy. He does a lot for charities, which is very noble, and he does a lot for most of his fans. He is a great musician. I will give him that much. However, I DO have to agree with Former Fan regarding her statement. As far as a person goes, Alan has a few things to learn. First is that other people besides himself have feelings. And things work both ways. You hurt someone, they are going to hurt you back. It does hurt to have someone consider you a friend and then turn their back on you. You baby-sit their kid, you do things for them and their family. Then they tell you off and you have no clue what happened. The fame did go to his head and it shows to this day. Alan will be 80 years old still trying to catch that adoration to fill that void in him. He is very talented - but he really has two sides and can't grow up.

Posted by: on May 11, 2004 05:19 PM .

I should actually have named myself a former friend b/c that would be more accurate.

Oh trust me, person posting under no name at all, I did grow up and I grew up to the harsh reality of Alan. Sad thing is I spent a year and a lot of time going around defending the guy and acting like 99.99% of the fans who post at his message board. Thinking he could do no wrong, thinking he was so special, so talented…everything you lot think now. Yep, even attacking anyone who felt or thought differently about him. I’ve been there. The Alan I first met at their rehearsal space was totally grounded, warm and friendly. I saw how fame affected him and the band. The Alan who who went off on me about never being a friend was a totally different man. You say the guy is awesome? He was, at one time he really was.

I’d been living under the false impression I was a friend of Alan’s because I spent nearly a year doing things for Alan and his family, like taking Gavin to Marineland the day of the show in Niagara Falls b/c ALAN was too busy, taking his mother grocery shopping, taking Gavin swimming, doing things for the band, spending time with Christine and Craigy, helping him throw a birthday party for Gavin. But once he said the nasty, hateful things he said to me, and after the shock of HOW he did it wore off, I grew up. Fame ruined Glass Tiger. Alan turned on a lot of his friends back then, Gracie told me I wasn’t the only one. It’s sad, it really is, b/c at one time we really clicked. Maybe Alan will recall saying to me that he hoped we would still be friends in 10 years time and that I’d show him my GT collection. So, all of you who defend this guy to the end, you’ve obviously met him in a bar—which is where he said he should have met me—and I hope you know for sure what he thinks of you!

Posted by: a former fan on May 12, 2004 10:15 AM .

If it's worth anything, I've not only seen the man in action, I've experienced it. The MO seems to be use them for what they're worth and then dump them...the nastier the better. Make a scene, be rude, make sure to tell them you never liked them at all. Oh yes, he comes on all sweet for his public, doesn't he?

Posted by: Raquel in Scarborough on May 12, 2004 02:22 PM .

First of all: YOU GO GIRLS!!!! Like Raquel, I have experienced it also. Not to the degree Former Fan did, but I did experience it. I also know of many other women who have been hurt by this guy. It does hurt to have this guy act like he's a friend of yours one minute and then turn around and stab you in the back the next. What is even worse are the women who were duped into sleeping with the guy with him leading them to believe that there could be something more there when all he was going to do was leave them high and dry and go back to Canada and to the poor woman he was cheating on. I'm not sure how he can live with himself but I'm sure there is a LOT of guilt there. If not, he is not human.

One tip of advice, and I know it may be difficult to understand or even want to, but you have to forgive him, at least for your own well being. Yes, I know it won't take the hurt away, emotional pain is stronger than physical pain (remember a bruise eventually heals but words remain forever), but for you to come to personal closure, you have to forgive, at least in your heart. Unfortunately, the lashing out you are giving Alan now should have been done years ago after he was through berating you, so you could've had your say. How he ended his friendship with you was wrong, especially if you weren't even given a reason. I know it has been years, but maybe you should ask Alan why he did what he did and then you can start to heal. If he has good morals, as his Manager claims he does, he will come forward, explain and apologize. If he cannot do that, then he has no morals at all--and no balls either.

Cripes! Tell me about it!

Posted by: TheDiscourse! on May 13, 2004 01:10 AM .

An interesting thought, to yell right back at him after he's berated you. I don't know about Raquel or Nycole, but when he went berserk at me, it was totally out of the blue and I was so stunned I could barely breathe. Big of him then, he gave me 5 minutes to say goodbye to his parents. Gracie knew something was up the instant she saw me, and come to think of it, he probably took it out on them too. Sure, now I can think of things to say to him, but at the time he wouldn't even let me say anything, he just went on with his freaking tirade. I've wondered if he's ever regretted it. Would I want to confront him now and discuss it? A part of me says yes, let him have it, but another part of me knows I'd get really angry with him....which maybe is what he'd deserve.

Posted by: a former fan on May 13, 2004 05:43 AM .

I've heard many horror stories over the years, which makes me wonder a few things about the women who follow him around to his bar shows. It's interesting to see others posting about their experiences here; do you think Mr. Frew will bother to read them? To the person who says to forgive him--why forgive a jerk? I've moved on, I'm happily married, but but now my brother-in-law's sister seems to be getting into dangerous territory herself. You have to wonder WHY it is that supposedly intelligent women will not listen to advice. So we're trying to show her mine was not an isolated incident--wish us luck!

Posted by: Raquel on May 13, 2004 08:51 AM .

Yes, he would deserve it and you should confront him on it....you deserve to know WHY he was so angry at you, why he decided to end the friendship, why he went beserk on you....ask him! You'll feel better....

Posted by: on May 13, 2004 08:52 AM .

It happened to me in Europe on the last GT tour. Me and a few of my friends had decided to follow the band over there (stupidly) and on more than one occasion, Alan and I found ourselves in some pretty intimate situations. Then when he was done playing with me, he gathered the four of us in his room and basically told us off. He kept saying that he was going home to Canada, to Marcy and he was going to marry her and they were going to have a baby. Well, from what I've heard, it's been 13 years and they still aren't legally married and she's finally having the baby. Gee, it took long enough, eh? I wrote a letter to him telling him what I felt of the situation but I heard through the grapevine that he threw it away.

Posted by: Nycole on May 13, 2004 08:59 AM .

Nycole, this sounds like what we're afraid Sandra is going to do. She's my brother-in-law's stepsister, total black sheep of the family...I can't even call her a sister-in-law, but that's besides the point. She's fallen in with some little group of chicks who claim to know Alan so well, and she thinks she can lure him away from Marcy. She's barely 22!!! Trevor's (hubby) mom is so far unaware of the plot, but she won't be for long. I hear there's a couple extended roadtrips in the works!

Posted by: Raquel on May 13, 2004 09:15 AM .

Raquel, by chance does your husband Trevor or has Trevor ever done any kind of equipment work for Frew? I'm just asking because there was a Trevor at one of his shows recently setting up some equipment. I'd love to know who the little group of chicks Sandra's fallen in with and I'd love to see how she plans on luring him away from Marcy. She could probably get him to sleep with her, yeah, but he won't leave Marcy for her. Unless of course Marcy kicks him to the curb, which is possible....then again, I've always thought he had a mistress on the side anyway, which would explain the separate living arrangements....

Posted by: Nycole on May 13, 2004 09:22 AM .

No, no, my husband's never been a roadie for anyone, not even in his crazier college days. Some guy he works with tho, has a brother who has in the past done work with Glass Tiger, but that was ages ago. As you can tell, we've been looking into every route possible to waylay Sandra's dumb ideas. Nycole, I'm sorry, I don't know any names, I just know she's hanging out with a bunch of new "friends" who are filling her head with dumb ideas. If she ever mentions any, I'll be sure to remember them though. Now wait a sec, Marcy and Alan don't live together? What kind of screwy situation is this anyway? I'll reserve my comments.

Posted by: Racquel on May 13, 2004 10:23 AM .

I don't mean to break in here, but I have to add my two cents. Yeah, Frew and Marcy don't always live together. And that information came from a source that works for Marcy. A store owner that sells her salad dressings. As one person once told me, Frew "likes the best of both worlds" so that is why he cannot commit to anyone. I feel bad for Marcy and the unborn baby because this kid is going to go through just what his other two did; no father around most of the time, growing up wanting an adult around. She should just take the kid and run!

Posted by: madamex on May 13, 2004 10:27 AM .

I'm just wondering, how did a 22 year old get turned on to such an old timer such as Frew? For Pete's sake, he has a son who is almost 25! Is it the thrill of the catch? Has she met Frew already and think he's interested in her? If that's the case, you'd better tell her he acts like that around most women...maybe word got out to her that Frew is loose with his promiscuity and she figures he'd be easy to lure into the sack or something....who knows? But yeah, she'd better be careful or she's going to get a very rude awakening....plus the other henchwomen will make life very difficult for her, as they all believe that they are next in line with him....

Posted by: Nycole on May 13, 2004 10:37 AM .

Really? Best of both worlds? Hmm, yes, I guess that's how I would explain what he was like with me. Given that fact, not only do I sympathise with Marcy, I totally agree with you. I've heard about Gavin, that's he's a decent bloke, but Ryan seems to be a lost boy or some such? Dana...does that name ring any bells?????

Posted by: Raquel on May 13, 2004 10:39 AM .

Dana....wasn't she with Jimmy Cooper? Ryan's mother's name is Susan Lee, she was an Oriental lady that apparently Frew had a fling with, got pregnant and Ryan is his illegitimate kid. I've heard Dana was with Cooper and actually recently Cooper's son was looking for him on Frew's MB....

Unless Frew had a turn with Dana also....

Posted by: Raquel on May 13, 2004 10:44 AM .

Oh dear, Nycole, we're posting at the same time. I'm on lunch right now. We're piecing things together--seems that, yes, she met him already. 22 going on 16 I think, boy crazy in a way. I've not the foggiest why she's so impressed with Frew but if I may take a guess? These new friends of hers have put some silly idea(s) into her head, that's my guess. I gather 1 or 2 of them has already been involved with him or currently is, I'm not clear but it's a totally sad situation.

Posted by: Raquel on May 13, 2004 10:45 AM .

HEY! Is there another Raquel posting here??? Maybe I'd best change my ID to Raquel in Scarborough????

I don't know any Jim Coopers, if he's any friend of Frew's he's on my list. I have heard the name Susan Lee thrown around someplace tho.

Posted by: Raquel on May 13, 2004 10:48 AM .

Nope, sorry about that Raquel! I accidently typed in YOUR name! haha! All this talk about Frew is getting to me...well, if one of her friends is involved with him and is putting ideas into her head, then she'd better wake up fast. You know, I always thought that when Frew got older and matured a bit he'd give up on the cheating but it doesn't look that way....no wonder he has his own separate place....probably a different broad every night too.....Jim Cooper had some kind of position with the band, I don't know what he was exactly but he took Dana for all she was, including her money. Such a loser....

Posted by: Nycole on May 13, 2004 10:54 AM .

I wondered if maybe someone had been thinking they were addressing something to me...or was I talking to myself??

Some men never grow up. Real shame. Thing is, there's women willing to go along with the foolishness. How old is Frew, 40 something??

Called Trevor, the guy's brother's name is Tony, if that rings any bells. He was a roadie or tech of some sort for Glass Tiger in the late 80's??

Posted by: Raquel on May 13, 2004 11:52 AM .

May I allow myself a chuckle?? On my task bar, when this site is up, it says "Glass Tigger"!

Frew will be 48 in November. Tony. I think I have a picture of him. Wonder if he used to go by the nickname Tones? I do have a pic of some member of the road crew with Al and on the back of the pic it says Tony "Tones" and I forget his last name. He was a blonde....

Posted by: Nycole on May 13, 2004 12:02 PM .

You know more about him than I do Nycole, as I've never met the guy. WAS blonde might be a good observation considering, well I mean, if Frew is turning 48(!!) in November then this Tony guy has to be at least that old.

Posted by: Raquel on May 13, 2004 12:26 PM .

Small world. I met a Tony and yeah I think he did call himself Tones. Seemed to think he was pretty cool, but he was a decent enough fellow. In all the pix I took I had a couple of him.

I live in BC, used to be a huge fan of GT. Met the band, had all the perks. Sounds nice right? It was b/c my best friend's older sister was Alan's girlfriend, his "West Coast" girlfriend. He was talking some real nice stuff to her like moving her to Toronto, buying her a house, marrying her. We went to a show in Calgary and while us "younger" girls were talking to the rest of the band, she went backstage and walked right into Alan and one of his "other" girlfriends, some chick named Marcybell. Needless to say we didn't see the show. Everything GT at my friend's house went into a bonfire the day after we got home. Only me and my friend know the details. The sister met up with Alan again 2 years ago and guess what? He claimed to not even remember her. Real nice guy. Anyway, I'm out surfing for someplace to sell off my GT stuff. If anyone is interested it may end up on eBay.

Posted by: Liliana on May 13, 2004 01:22 PM .

Liliana, welcome to the blog! hehe! Another fine story....wonder how many other women we can dig up to tell their story? Has anyone here heard about Alan's little "bathroom quickies"? I know of someone who walked in on Alan and one of his little sluts during one of these "quickies" and Marcy was sitting at the table waiting for him the whole time! Yeah, Marcybell is probably "the" Marcy. She's been with him for 15 years (poor woman). And it doesn't surprise me that Frew claims he doesn't remember her. I'm sure with all his guilt, any chick he's "done" has gone the wayside in his mind....what a disgusting pig.....

All I can say is TGIF! Sandra has about gone off the deep end. She bailed out of work yesterday afternoon to go with some other chicks, Alan spotting, as she so flippantly told me last night. Her boss was calling all over to see where she was since she didn't come back from lunch, he thought she'd been in some accident...you know, I just do not understand what goes through people's heads. Sandra was an Honors student all through high school and Uni. She gets away from her Uni friends and finds these wackos and she goes NUTS!!! AAAHHHHH!!!!

Posted by: Raquel on May 14, 2004 07:59 AM .

I'm with you, Raquel. TGIF! I can't believe Sandra cut off work just to go seek out Frew. Wonder where she tried looking for him. I actually know his address, but my lips are sealed....frankly, I have better things to do with my time...and you'd better warn her to be careful because his manager is wise to fans like her...she'll put her in her place...

Posted by: Nycole on May 14, 2004 08:32 AM .

Oh, did I mention? One of these new cronies of hers supposedly knows where Alan lives, supposedly knows him real well, all this BS. Sorry, to me it's all just BS, most of what he says to these fans is BS. Yeah, this chick is so sure she's Alan's next girlfriend, I just want to laugh in her face. And I probably will if I ever have the displeasure of meeting her.

Posted by: Raquel on May 14, 2004 09:21 AM .

I can tell you this much. If this cronie is around his son's age, Frew isn't going to give her much of a look...she can try but he's working on girls in their mid-thirties--chicks around his "wife"'s age.

Posted by: Nycole on May 14, 2004 09:26 AM .

Nycole, you mentioned Alan's manager. Whoever she is--he has a female manager??--then she needs to get wise to this gang of chicks and I don't care what age they are. I know what it was like when I was involved with him, and from what I can tell it's just as bad now. They pretend to be each other's friends when all along they're each hoping to be his next choice. He flirts with them, they fall for it, they go overboard, he goes ape on them. Each one of them is certain she has a shot at luring him away from Marcy. Are you sure Dana isn't one of this posse?? Trev's mom has answered 2 phone calls just this morning from a Dana. Somehow I think we're dealing with a bunch of stalkers, plain and simple. Sorry if I sound angry, it's just that things are starting to come to get a trifle dramatic around here. What on earth do people see in this man??? I'm STILL asking myself that--what did _I_ ever see in him???

Posted by: Raquel on May 14, 2004 12:58 PM .

Yes, Frew's manager is a woman--Sharon Brennan--she works out of London. The only Dana I know is a woman named Dana Joudrey and she lives in Nova Scotia. I doubt she would be part of this posse, but you never know. Maybe you should e-mail his manager and let her know what's going on, just to make him aware? At least she could be wise to it...sbrennan@alanfrew.com.

Hey, I'm back just to see what else has turned up. Thanks for the welcome, rather a dubious distinction here, eh? Does Frew still read this blog? He's got a woman manager? Whatever happened to Gary Pring and what was the other guy's name...Joe....it'll come to me, probably in the middle of the night. OK, got a question for those of you posting here: if Frew's going around doing a number on all these fans, and the word is getting out, then why does he even still HAVE fans?! And am I mistaken or is he now playing in bars? Does he ever come out to BC? And Marcybell is still with him, even though he sounds like the biggest cheat on the planet? Why!? OK, sorry, that was several questions! Bathroom quickies, I do not even want to know. And heads up to Raquel--that sister-in-law of yours is going to get in trouble if she's getting involved with stalkers. The laws these days can be far-reaching.

Posted by: Liliana on May 14, 2004 01:22 PM .

Well, Raquel, you and me both--I don't know what I saw in him. I've just been reading the stuff posted here today and I have to agree with Liliana. These stories are getting around, so why does he still have fans? Or what I want to know, why are these women doing this to themselves? And then the other question I have is why there's this group that defends him so righteously....altho again, Raquel voiced one of my thoughts--that they seem to think they have a chance with him. Too bad we can't all playback for each other the past experiences we've had...and heck, for that matter, play them back for the chicks throwing themselves at him now...b/c there's probably some lessons to be learned! I sorta think Sharon is as duped as the rest of them are...

Posted by: a former fan on May 14, 2004 02:20 PM .

TO LILIANA: Gary Pring passed away at least four years ago that I know of. Joe Brambera (I think was his name), who knows what happened to him. Those guys were GT's managers. Sharon is just the manager for Frew. I don't know if he's been back to read this blog. It was around for a while before he discovered it and that was only because he was probably searching the 'net to see what kind of stuff is out there on him, as something happened where he told off one of his fans and shut down his MB and changed it. Apparently one of his fans said some truthful stuff about him on her own web site and he and his henchwomen didn't like it very much. I don't know what was said that was so bad, as I'd read the site and didn't see anything wrong.

Why does Frew still HAVE fans if he's doing a number on some of these women? Well, that's simply because there are some foolish women out there who, even if they were told Frew was a serial killer, would stand by his side. What makes all those people stand by the side of Michael Jackson? And it seems that mainly the women here are ones who have been hurt by him in some way. It seems the ones who get hurt by him are the ones who know the real Frew.

Yes, he is only playing in bars. But BIG NEWS! He's going to be OPENING for Roger Hodgson on his rock symphony tour. Whoopie! Oh, and of course GT is doing some sort of half-assed tour this summer like they usually do. Does he ever come out to BC? I can't recall the last time he was there. Closest I think he got was Manitoba last year with GT. He's still with Marcy and she's having his baby in July! Can you believe that? Why she's still with him? Who knows? Why has she been with him for the past 15 years? Must be something there, I guess....maybe they are not "exclusive". Well, she's getting what she wants....maybe she'll get the last laugh in the end.

As for the bathroom quickies, I won't discuss them with you. That's what made me sick.

For a bunch of people that hate him so much you sure talk about him alot. I dont know the fucking guys, all I know is I like his music, he has been nothing but nice to me the few times Ive met him, so I dont give a crap what he did to ya 15 years ago. There are a lot of nut case girls out there who think they have something with him just because he was nice to them. Thats their problem. They way some people behave you think he killed their first born! Get over it!

Posted by: on May 14, 2004 04:07 PM .

His real name is JOE BAMFORD

Posted by: on May 14, 2004 05:31 PM .

Nameless: the reason you don't know the "fucking guy" is why you cannot understand WHY we dislike him so much. If you DID know him like we all do and in the WAYS we all do, I think you would understand. It's great that he's been nice to you. He was nice to all of us once also but then after he had his fun, he turned on us in one way or another.

I know his music is great, Glass Tiger's music is great, I will give him that much; however, there isn't much of a person to respect beyond the music, not when he goes around hurting women and cheating on the woman he calls his "wife". I cannot respect a person like that.

Also regarding his music, I know he has said that his site is about his music and he always tries to focus on his music; however, it's kind of hard for his fans to focus on the music when the music they are listening to is four, 10 or 15 years old. It really gets tiresome after a while and some new material would be nice to hear. "Wonderland" was released four years ago. By now most artists would have had at least two other CD's released. No wonder no one is focusing on his music and instead are more interested in his personal life. Maybe it's because they're bored with his music and need to hear something new and fresh.....

Posted by: madamex on May 14, 2004 09:18 PM .

You'd kind of like to think that forewarned is fore-armed. I don't know what sort of fans Frew has now, but I know what they were like back when I was involved...and it sounds pretty much the same. I was once someone who would defend him, just like some of the earlier posts here, and how I wish someone had warned me back then to be prepared for how he handles things. Unnamed, you'll "get over it" too when he crosses you. He's pathetic, but even more pathetic are the fans who think he's perfect. He's a sneak among other things.....

Posted by: a former fan on May 17, 2004 07:21 AM .

I found this blog thru a link on another web site. I don't even know why I'm posting except I wanted to share that I just got banned from Frew's message board for some reason. Moral of the story: beware the mind police! I guess I asked once too often about the bootleg store not being a place where we fans could trade stuff.

What a howler! I mean what an absolute howler! what's wrong ladies has All My Children finally gotten boring for you? or are there just not enough episodes of Survivor or The Swan to keep your pea brains amused? Let's see a Rock Star who has a huge ego?...STOP THE BUS!!! or a Rock Star who slept with a ton of women......? THAT'S IT CALL THE PRESS!!! I mean has that not been talked and written about to death since say.......1956 and ELVIS was KING??? ..... next you'll be telling me that BONO HAS A BIG HEAD or worse yet MICK JAGGER REALLY DID SLEEP WITH ANOTHER MAN.......MY GOD!!! HELP ME IT CAN'T BE TRUE........ what a joke.Unless you are an ex wife with an axe to grind or perhaps even an ex member of his band ( which I suspect you

are) then what the hell are your meaningless ramblings really all about?.....let's see you allude to sleeping with him yet he's the slut.........rrriiiggghhht! That 's it. Let me get my violin out and my hankie 'cuz I just don't think I can take this trauma....... bathroom quickies?? Oh the sheer horror. God what I'd give for a good old bathroom quickie to take me back a few years.... why don't you write back and forth about why someone would crucify and kill a young man for being gay, or why a man would torture and kill dozens of prostitutes, or why indeed the world seems to be falling apart around us? Why not write about ways to help battered women, and homeless children, indeed dying children or those suffering from crippling disease like MS, ALZHEIMER'S or AIDS ?........for I KNOW ALAN HAS!!! I have known this guy for ALL of his life here in Canada and I know of the thousands upon thousands of lives he has helped enrich. I was with him when a man obviously suffering from the effects of a stroke and couldn't speak cried in Alan's arms because he remembered that Alan's face was the last he had seen as he entered into the 'light' only to be saved by a great 'nurse'. I remember visiting a children's hospital with him when he took hours and hours to sing to and speak with the kids and their families. Ask Sick Kid's Hospital, or Camp Trillium, or Easter Seals or Bloorview MacMilllan Centre what they think of Alan Frew. So you follow him to Europe and sleep with him or you take his mom to the mall in 1987 and you're left traumatized when things change and life moves on? Or perhaps you're not writing it all properly. Perhaps you are one of the ones that fantasize about your friendship with him and talk your way into his home, and his life and his family? I told Alan way back then and I still tell him today that he gives WAY TOO much access to people who call themselves fans only to be assassinated by them when their fantasy world falls apart. What's wrong ladies gained a few extra pounds since '86-87? One too many kids running around your ankles? Bored? Jealous? When was the last time YOU helped a child in need, or a kid running away from home, or a family dying of AIDS? Want me to tell you about the last time Alan helped? Perhaps if some of your effort went in that direction you might be able to forget all that trauma you suffered from your flings with Musicians. You need not reply to this and please note that if you do I won't see it anyway because I will not return to this site. I stumbled upon it but I willingly leave it behind. I truly have a life that is filled with many interesting, fascinating, challenging moments and you half wits are not part of that so I will not return here . However I just felt compelled to let those who do wander through here see a side of a man who cares...not what you think of when you read what some fat asses who happen to have boring trivial lives and who take the time to write such shocking things like.......I knew him and he dumped me!!!! God, he slept with my sister now he doesn't write!!! his mum went to the mall.........with MY help!!! but rather about a man who helps others find just a little bit more comfort, or peace, or dignity in this world that fights so hard against that philosophy each and every day. What skeletons are in all your closets? I know I have mine. The women who write this shit ( if indeed they are women) are the type who's philosophy is this........" Yes, those Glass Tiger guys were all sluts!!! I should know!!!......I slept with ALL of them!!" Get a life or at the very least get up off of the couch!

NO! none of your garbage changes my opinion of him whatsoever! i still think he's a great musician and a man who does so many wonderful things for charities for the children, homeless etc...which i admire the most. so unless u have anything nice to say don't let the door hit u on the way out!!!

rah rah rah!!! go ALAN!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmmm, "Karen", I know you said you won't be back but I'm writing this anyway, just in case you change your mind. By the way, with the way you write, you sound a lot like Alan. First of all, let me make it very clear to you that I never slept with any member of Glass Tiger, nor would I ever want to. Now that we have THAT out in the open, I would like to tell you MY story....

First of all, I want to tell you that I first discovered this blog and I was the person at the beginning who is defending Alan on the "gay" issue. I've always believed that it was wrong of people to say things like that of him and I will always stand by him on that issue.

I am not an ex-wife with an axe to grind, nor am I an ex-band member (nor do I think any of us on here are). I never alluded to sleeping with anyone and I never called Alan a slut. You state "God what I'd give for a good old bathroom quickie to take me back a few years"....sounds like something a man would say. Why don't we write back and forth about issues of the world? Well first of all, this is a blog that was started about Alan Frew, not the issues of the world. Secondly, I personally have written about issues of the world on my own time and I have many stories, poems and lyrics regarding the issues of the world so I don't need to write about them here.

In focusing on Alan's strong qualities, yes, I agree with you that he does a LOT for charity and I have always admired him for that and always will. I know how much he does because for the past year I personally have donated A LOT of money to his Bloorview cause, most recently being $1,500 for a poster. I believe in his causes, which is a reason why I donated so much money. For his pub tours I have attended five shows, each time entering raffles. I donated $130.00 to Bloorview in Alan's honor for his birthday. I paid $130.00 in an auction for song lyrics. I drove 12 hours to Sarnia IN THE SNOW to support him for his Alzheimer's benefit. Both Bloorview and the Alzheimer's hold personal meaning for me as well, as I have an autistic sister and my husband's grandmother had Alzheimer's. Yes, I know Alan has done a lot of good for a lot of people. I know of the work he has done for Bloorview, as I have a letrer from them stating that he is a great friend of the kids from this place. On a personal note, Alan Frew literally changed my life by inspiring me to continue with my writing. I never fantasized about a friendship with Alan or even a relationship with him. I didn't personally know Alan Frew back in 1986 or 1987; in fact, I only just met the man last August 2003 for the very first time. I know he has done a lot of good work. So did Mother Teresa. But please don't make him out to sound like a martyr because he certainly isn't perfect.

I have to comment on your statement:

"I told Alan way back then and I still tell him today that he gives WAY TOO much access to people who call themselves fans only to be assissinated by them when their fantasy world falls apart".

Well, since you've been telling him this for all these years, I guess he hasn't heard you or maybe he just doesn't care? Or maybe it's that he doesn't listen because he loves the attention he gets? Sometimes he does it to himself. I've sat at many, many shows where Alan has decided to announce to the entire audience that "Michy drove all the way from Massachusetts for this show". Each time he would say that I would cringe. I never once told him to tell ANYONE where I was from or how long it took me to get there. The last time he said it, it prompted a reporter to take down my story and print it in the local paper. I never drove to Alan's shows to get his attention, certainly not to impress him, make a spectacle of myself or to let people know how far I came to see him perform. I went to enjoy the show and to support his causes. Sometimes I also got together with friends. But how do you tell a performer NOT to mention that you are there in the audience all the way from Massachusetts? It's his show, after all.

What do you do when the artist's Manager sends you a rather vague but nasty message indicating that your enthusiasm for her client is just a bit too much? Yet she doesn't have the decency to explain it one bit. That hurt extremely, especially since by that point in time I had spent a LOT of time and money attending Alan's shows. And yet, I never once threw myself at him or did anything inappropriately and if I had, no one had the sense to tell me. But I kept hanging on, not knowing what I had done wrong to prompt such a message. I couldn't understand why, when I'd given so much of my time and money to this performer, that he and his management could turn around and hurt me like that. I guess you could consider that the beginning of the end for me. From that point on, I never felt very comfortable going to Alan's shows, although I still went to a few, and I certainly didn't feel welcome on his MB any longer either. I didn't even feel welcome as a fan.

Then a few weeks ago I was offered pictures of Glass Tiger. They are great pictures. Just memories that belonged to someone who was once friends with Alan. Well, they had a story to tell about how they had been "friends" with Alan, or that's what they considered themselves, until he "ended their friendship" by basically telling them off and telling them they had five minutes to say good-bye and leave, for no reason at all, or none that they were told anyway. Okay, so that's their story. I don't know Alan's side or even if Alan has a side. But here I was being told this about a man whom I thought very highly of and I'm thinking to myself "why would he do that?" and "would he ever do that to me?". Then I always thought back to the message his Manager had sent me....

The pinnacle came when a woman from Alan's MB contacted me via IM late one Saturday night and had a discussion with me regarding Alan and told me some things that Alan had done in some places where Alan shouldn't have been with people he shouldn't have been with. Simple as that. After she told me this one part of the conversation, I literally became sick to my stomach and began crying. I cried because I was having a difficult time learning this about a man I had such high regard for. I once told Alan Frew "I would go to the Moon to see you". It's true. I would've. But not any longer. That night is when I lost all respect for Alan as a man. I'd heard, seen and experienced just too much.

My biggest mistake was the web site I had created for Alan. Yes, I did it out of adoration for the man and it started off really well. But then as my anger grew about things, little things such as the message from Alan's Manager, the little petty hate e-mails I received from Alan's fans for what reason, I don't know, the ignorance of Alan if I sent him a private message simply to congratulate him on the upcoming baby, added with reading little pompous statements from Alan on his web site-- "besides....I'm worth it!"-- and learning story after story from different people, I made a few mistakes. I couldn't help but wonder if Alan was bi-polar, considering how he had acted like a friend of these two girls for a while and then told them off suddenly. So I asked him. I actually did it in a jokingly way but I guess he didn't take it as a joke. Then again, there have been things he has said that he thinks are a "joke" that I have never found humorous at all. Maybe that's what he didn't like. Or maybe it was the feelings I wrote about on my web site regarding how I felt about his somewhat pompous attitude or the way he treats some people. As the woman who had IM'd me that fateful Saturday night said:

"I always thought it was odd that someone with a great voice, stage presence, and charm who could write wonderful music, could be so crass to a fellow human being and hurt these girls so much. Granted, he is right when he says everyone is an adult, blah blah blah, but there are lines that should not be crossed because you have to have some class and treat everyone with respect".

In closing, I will always respect Alan Frew as a MUSICIAN. Alan is a brilliant songwriter. It would just be nice if he would record music more often instead of waiting four, five or six years. He says his site is about a "man and his music". But we can only beat "Hold On" and "Wonderland" with a stick so much. It's difficult to discuss a man's music when he doesn't have any new music to discuss. Alan has said that some people just "don't get" what he does. Maybe Alan's the one who doesn't "get it". Maybe that's why his fans (whom are mostly female so we think very differently and I think Alan forgets that sometimes) become so fascinated with other aspects of Alan other than his music. One other thing he doesn't realize is that most of the people on his web site are NOT musicians and believe it or not, the music is probably towards the bottom of the list when it comes to why they are a fan. Just my opinion. Shit, I know some people on Alan's MB who don't even have his CD's! So what's their reason for being there? To learn his shoe size?

I have enjoyed Glass Tiger's music since 1986 and Alan's music since 2003. Although Alan decided he had enough of me and banned me from his web site, I still remain a fan and always will be. You don't just turn around and stop being a fan after 18 years. I know I was wrong in what I wrote on my site, although it was strictly my opinion, my feelings, which I am entitled to. I do regret it; however, I take with me some great memories and an inspiration that will last forever. I have apologized to Alan Frew and his Manager and I forgive them for banishing me from the "fan club" and I move on from here. I hope they can forgive me as well and move on also. Everything happens for a reason. I was granted the opportunity to know Alan Frew for a short time, whatever reason that may be. He is quite possibly the most fascinating person I will ever know. I know someday our paths will cross again--probably in the most unlikely of places--as it really is a small world. Now you know MY side of the story.....

Hey, Vanessa, great statement from the "head henchwoman". Got any new pics of your ass for Alan?

Posted by: on May 17, 2004 07:12 PM .

Okay I've been silent long enough. This site has recently been brought to my attention and I feel the need to speak out towards all the nastiness that has been going back and forth here regarding Alan. It is simply incomprehensible to me why it is so important to people here what Alan did in his life thirteen or fifteen years ago! Am I supposed to assume that what a man did with his life in the past will automatically dictate the way he lives his life now? That a person is not capable of change? IF the garbage that has been written here is even completely truthful but that is besides the point. The fact is that I don't need to hear nor do I care about any of those things Alan may or may not have done. What is important to me is the kind of person he is now and what he has learned from the ten lifetimes he has lived over any one of us. Can you even begin to imagine what life has been like for him? No, not unless you ARE him. In the time that I have come to know Alan, he has never been anything but respectful, friendly and personable to me. I've watched his eyes sparkle when he talks about his new baby and his wife. I've heard the pride in his voice when he talks about his sons. Sorry folks, but this is NOT a man with no heart, no conscience and no respect for people. If he were do you really think he would put so much energy into a pub tour to benefit a children's charity, or give time out of his busy schedule to help out the homeless and participate in charity golf tournaments? Not to mention the Easter Seals and Alzheimer's charities that "Karen" mentioned previously. Alan gives so much of himself to spending time with his fans as well and always asks if they enjoyed the show. This is clearly who the man is inside. So tell me, why is it always so easy to find negative things to discuss and dwell on instead of focusing on the many positive things that are evident? Any one of us has done things we are not proud of, that we would change if we could. Skeletons in my closet? They are definitely there. But I don't let them run my life. I accept them for what they were, chalk it up to another lesson learned and MOVE ON. Fortunately for us our life events were never big enough news to be a topic of discussion and gossip amongst others as Alan's apparently are. Alan's music is in my soul, it always will be. Nothing I read or hear about him will ever change that. I won't let it. So after all is said and done this message board really serves no purpose. So for the VERY few of you here that are finding some sort of therapy in bashing Alan Frew (or maybe it's really just one of you disguised as a few), keep this in mind the next time you come to compose another nasty post: THOSE WHO LIVE IN GLASS HOUSES SHOULD NOT THROW STONES.

Maybe, just maybe Alan grew up. Maybe you didn't.

So this Saturday brings a leg of Pub Gigs to an end which in itself is interesting because I have been bugging management to let me have a hiatus for quite some time now, because in all honesty I want to focus on my new studio, my new songs and managing and producing new artists. So I say ", Let's shut it down..... then of course GLASS TIGER decides to do dates and ROGER HODGSON offers me dates and I am like.....well ok just this one...and that one..and maybe...........that one too......so my hiatus will be filled off and on with dates.......BUT....you heard it here first I am going away for a while to write and record............okay!!!

Where in there does it mention a baby and a wife? Sounds like he's more interested in his studio, new songs and managing and producing new artists. Even Roger Hodgson gets a mention....it's none of my business but since you brought up the baby and wife thing, don't you think the priorities are a little lopsided here? I sure do....maybe while Alan's "away" writing songs and recording he'll figure it all out....

Shit, someone's selling Michael Hanson's Juno award on E-bay!!!!!

Posted by: on May 21, 2004 06:31 PM .

Too bad about the Juno, but he apparently gave it away.

It has honestly been years since I’ve even had anything to do with GT or Alan or his fans, so seeing this world again has surprisingly stirred up a plethora of emotions for me. At one time I liked Alan a lot; I felt we were friends, and this was based on his reactions to me, not my own whimsies. (and if you have some comment to make about the friend thing, I don’t want to hear it b/c I don’t care how you view things NOW) I’ve been thinking about why I ended up looking into this world again, after having contacted an avid fan. At one time, I thought it would be nice to clear the air with him, to maybe find out why he said the things he said to me. Yes, call it an explanation from a rational adult to a rational adult. However, I’ve seen and heard enough in my short revisit to realize now that nothing has changed. It is wonderful he still does the charity work he did back then; I applaud him whole-heartedly for that and more. But as for re-connecting with the man, I never will. I’ve seen and heard too many stories, and I’ve seen enough from the people who vehemently take his side no matter what. That was me once too; I fully understand it. But if you think you’re on the inside with him because you go to bars to see him and he talks to you for a minute or 2 or he smiles in your direction or you see him get in the van, I do hope when it all falls apart you can remember that you saw the warning signs. I’ve had my say, I’ve had my look at this world again, and I’ve had enough.

I agree. It has gone from boring to wretched. Give it up for God's sake.

Hey namelesses! I’ve seen chicks like you at Alan’s shows and it’s nothing short of pathetic the way you’re all fighting over him. Former Fan has a very good point—he looks at one of you and you think you’re the object of his affection. He flirts with you; you think he’s in love with you. You women need to get a grip on reality.

I agree with former fan also. I attended my first Alan Frew show a month ago in Pickering. It will also be my last. I didn't know what to expect with his show. The show itself wasn't bad, except for the fact that he seemed kind of unprofessional in using a music stand (I'm a musician myself and play guitar in a band, as well as doing acoustic shows--I have NEVER used a music stand! Big, big NO NO! I was wondering if the guy needed it to read his music--doesn't he know the stuff by heart at this point in the game?). Anyway, other than the show, I watched from the sidelines after the show as he made his way around to the crowd, posing for this pic and that pic, beer in hand, he'd been drinking all during the show. Who knows how drunk he was. God knows how many women's lips he kissed that night (have you ever heard of Mono?). Saw him pinch a few asses too. Real gentleman. Now being in a band myself, I do mingle afterwards but have never gone around kissing strange women because I value my health, especially since I'm the singer for this band! And I would never pinch their asses either because I respect women way too much to do that. All I could think was this guy must be a walking disease and pervert all in one....chickies, I wouldn't get my hopes up on him wanting to hop in the sack with you just because he smiled at you...then again, maybe I'm wrong...maybe the chickies know what they can get out of this guy so they act like they do....who knows?

Well now Carl, apart from the fact that your an obvious weiner I also was at Pickering and that show I know for sure was booked by a good friend of Alan's who's home he went quietly to afterwards and I didn't see him behave at ALL as you describe. Yet I did see lot's of dead beat guys lurking around searching for a few asses to do more than just pinch and Alan was not one of them. The music stand? Oh the one holding the copies of the lyrics to be won for charity, right, got it..By the way what kind of band is yours? By the way what's the name of your band The Christian "no fun" Damentalists? Get a grip. P.S Just remember that you can't sell alcohol when your band's playing at the Yonge/Bloor Subway Station.

Way to go Carl! Don't listen to what these chicks say, because I have a hunch they'd defend this guy even if he was a serial killer. Ladies, come on! Real guys go to these shows with their wives and girlfriends, and maybe we have a more objective view of the evening's events. Cut the crap with defending Frew's every move. He's no saint, OK, deal with it. Some people like him, some people don't...you just have to accept facts. As for my girlfriend, last show we went to, she asked Frew to autograph some old CD for a gift for a friend. He did, quite graciously when Yvonne explained the friend was going through chemo. 5 minutes later when she was getting a Coke he grabbed her ass and made some lewd comment. Just before we left some snot of a chickie came over and tried to tell Yvonne to not move in on HER territory. Yep, Pickering will be the last show we go to as well.

this is some funny shit, my friend told to check out what you guys are fighting about. I hope you all relize your bitching about some rockstar that none of you really know. Yeah, you wish it was just a few during a show....

3 months, 100 comments, and someone's finally employed "you wish" as rhetoric. Great stuff! Most impressively, we now have Alan Frew grabbing the asses of cancer patients! Glass Tigger; The TV Movie, is well on its way: the demographic exists, tho the subject matter's getting darker by the day.

Posted by: ÿ on May 28, 2004 12:33 PM .

So this gracious guy goes around publicly kissing random girls with mono-spreading passion, blatantly pinches asses and is a drunk, but has had an undeniably successful career for twenty years?

Doesn't add up really, but I'm sure Springer would have you all on his "look at me I'm a loser" show.....of course the real story?...a bunch of fat chicks past their prime with no lives start spreading dirt with the help of a couple of forgettable, jealous guys who wish they could be rock stars or at least once in their lives be called successful.....this is making more sense to me now.

Hey JJ you don't really think he pinched Yvonne's ass?...Think again she ground her ass into him then came to work and told us all how hot he was....wake up

Posted by: gg on May 28, 2004 04:53 PM .

"y" needs to learn to read, I think. It was the FRIEND of the cancer patient whom "J-J" claims was pinched. And what's with the "Glass Tigger" bit? Got a Pooh complex, have you?

As for "J-J"s comment "Real guys go to these shows with their wives and girlfriends, and maybe we have a more objective view of the evening's events", I had to laugh. I wonder what these "real guys" think when they see that their wives and girlfriends watch Alan. Do you think jealousy rears its ugly head a little? I do, albeit not in all cases, but for the ones who do, I think they notice, thus colouring their "objective view of the evening's events" with a light tinge of green.

Saw Alan perform and host an orchestra show in London Ont last night. He was truly awesome. A fantastic night. Afterwards he with other artists came out to meet people and sign CD's etc. My husband and I were amazed at the graciousness and patience shown and saw a slight taste of how easy a target entertainers are for crap like has been mentioned on here. Guys asking him to pose with their girlfriend's and wives etc and then the entertainer being fodder for "girl grabbing" B.S. Such "Springer ' mentality. How many of us just wish even for a second that we could entertain like that I wonder only to turn it into crap, mush and jealousy because we can't? Great show Alan. Well done and keep up the great work for those of us who do care. p.s. just an opinion stay out of the bars and play the stages like you did last night. You are SO much better up there. You'll continue to shine and you won't have to deal with likes of some of the "Springerheads on here".Thanks.

In regards to KB's comment to Carl about the music stand, well, honey, hate to tell you this but Frew has a list of guitar chords that sit on the music stand, as does the other guitarist. How do I know? I was talking to the guitarist as he was setting up and saw him putting the sheets with the chords on the stands. Thought it was kind of strange but apparently he cannot remember all the guitar chords to his songs for some reason.....never saw an acoustic guitarist playing with a music stand before....I could see with an orchestra.....and they both have stands, not just Frew so I guess the guitarist is just as bad....

To Mel: yes, it would be nice if Frew could play on the big stages again, eh? However, it's kind of difficult to do that when you can't fill many seats. It helps to be able to do Jeans n' Classics when your manager is the wife of the guy running the show.....besides, at the pubs he gets all the booze he wants....can't do that while singing on the big stages in front of classy people......funny how twenty years later the guy has come full circle....he started off playing in bars, getting into fights, goes on to play the ACC and countless other huge arenas all over the world, and now he's back to playing in the bars again....kind of pathetic, eh? Shit, he's even lowered himself to opening for Roger Hodgson (who? Exactly. Unless you're a Supertramp fan you wouldn't even know the guy's name!). It's one has-been opening for another--and can you believe Hodgson is charging $70.00 a ticket for one of his shows? He's even afraid to step foot out of Ontario for fear he can't fill a pub. I thought his "pub tour across Canada" was supposed to be just that--a tour across CANADA--not just ONTARIO.

And as for Glass Tiger, well, sure THEY play on a big stage but will only play at the Turkey Festival, Casino whatever or the who-gives-a-shit fair in Timbuktu. The Inuits enjoy their yearly appearance also....

just how small is your penis Dave?

Posted by: on May 30, 2004 07:49 PM .

oh wait, you would have to be a man to have a penis...and you're not are you? You're a woman, and a sorry one at that....

Posted by: on May 30, 2004 08:08 PM .

Hey Dave! Perhaps you memorize all your music and don't need sheets because like 80% of today's "musicians" (and oddly enough, songwriters too), you can't read or write music? Yeah, I know guitar chords and written music aren't the same thing (I should as I can read both), so don't even bother going there. Hell, I'm much rather see a musician with the chords listed in front of him getting them right than to see one who "memorizes" them struggle through and forget several - something I've seen on several occasions.

And the fact that Hodgson CAN chage $70 and still sell tickets should tell you something. Some of these so-called "has beens" are still in fairly high demand with their fans.

And how many of these accoustic performers you've seen would give their eyeteeth to play that turkey festival in front of that many people? A gig is a gig, and those festivals draw fans - lots of them.

errr, let's see Dave( yeah right ).If he does the Hodgson tour it DOES take him across the country, making him less available to skanks like you yet allowing him to continue any charity work he set out to do in the first place.err let's see Dave( yeah, right) he could buy and sell you and doesn't need to play bars I don't find that pathetic at all. Roger Hodgson @ $70 a ticket, good for him. Would anyone pay 70 cents for ANYTHING you do? Got something against Inuits Dave? Jews? Blacks? perhaps don't even like yourself Dave? Still bed wetting perhaps?Mom still giving you a hard time? Still waiting for YOUR 15mins?

Do you REALLY think he cares about what any of you lot think of regarding how he runs his life or career? I mean seriously, take a deep breath and ask yourself s-l-o-w-l-y DO YOU THINK HE CARES ABOUT YOUR OPINIONS ? And yet, why should he? Do you care about what he thinks of how you run yours? I mean let's face it, does he come on here and tell you to quit selling Big Macs and Fries? Get with it.

"Dave" I'm sure can't count to 40 million....that's how many albums Roger Hodgson has sold....I wonder how many "Dave" has sold?....(don't count your Mommy now "Dave")

Posted by: supertramp fan on May 31, 2004 04:17 PM .

Mommy's copy was free, so you don't have to count her.

Wow, that BLAH post was real mature.

Almost as mature as the people who can't take opinions that differ from theirs. If HE doesn't care about anyone's opinion here, ladies, then why the hell should YOU go getting all bent?

Posted by: on June 1, 2004 07:20 AM .

Hey Dave, I know someone who can back you up about Frew having the music in front of him, so don't sweat the small minded folks here. I believe this blog is on the Internet, correct? No one controls the Internet, correct? So as much as Frew censors his own site, he can't do that on someone else's site. Ladies, run on back to Alan's site, where everyone agrees with everything everyone else says. Makes for far more meaningful discussions.

when exactly did it become a crime in a small venue to put a set list and chords on a music stand? Especially if you've decided to play guitar instead of just singing at the mic?Is it small minded to mention this or to bring it up in the first place? What exactly is the point of that? Beats the hell out of me.You find the music stand/ chords a meaningful discussion yet those who give you the answer, not?

Geez, just think of all those unprofessional people in symphony orchestras. Shame on them not memorizing all those pieces of music!

Posted by: on June 1, 2004 12:15 PM .

unless I am mistaken their are no, let's say, famous professionals writing on here wasting their time, for example other musicians, athletes, actors etc therefore it's most likely women who work in offices, guys from Canadian Tire, check outs, secretaries, mechanics, bank tellers, the gambut of the "rest of us". Where exactly do we get off running these guys down like Frew, Roger Hodgson and the likes? Millions of CD's, touring, making music, seeing the world, recording still and having fun doing it.I mean we get one shot down here folks and theirs seems like an enjoyable ride. Slagging them off is your right but don't tell me there's no jealousy in it.It's the 'how I wish I'd done something with my life syndrome". You can bullshit yourselves all you want and say any excuse under the sun but that's a fact. Remember in order to become a "has been'" you have to "have been".How many on here will get the chance to be "has beens?" and for what, employee of the month? I believe in free speech don't get me wrong but there is nothing here except your typical petty, whining regulars looking for anything they can to spew up about someone who has been successful.GT sold between 3 and 4 million CD's over the years and HODGSON 40 million!! Jesus Christ! Find the loop hole folks and keep on talking but you could never convince me that it's anything other than the jealousy of a minority of ordinary folks who are not happy with their lot in life.

is the Michelle who told her side of the story here the same obsessed person they mention on the message board goodbye?

Posted by: on June 12, 2004 03:56 PM .

why yes it is

Posted by: on June 12, 2004 04:00 PM .

Does anyone else get the impression that along with Michelle, maybe there were some other...problems...they were dealing with? I get that impression when I read the message. At any rate, I doubt it's the end of any of this simply because of the friction between and among the fans. There was alot of hatred and petty jealousy.

Posted by: on June 14, 2004 05:48 AM .

let's see.....war in Iraq, genocide in Rwanda, famine in the Sudan, 7/10ths of the Third World stricken with AIDS,9/11 just the beginning, child abuse at an all time high, teens who kill even higher,.......and then this: Does anyone else get the impression that along with Michelle, maybe there were some other...problems...they were dealing with? I get that impression when I read the message.Ooooooh! headlines "Frew closes message board, what's the deal? News at Eleven!!! " Give it a fucking rest already it is sooooo done. Pick another topic and let's see where we can go. Ok I'll start.....GEORGE MICHAEL GAY? YOU'RE KIDDING NO? No wait that's been done how about PAM ANDERSON'S TITS ARE NOT REAL???....YOU'RE JOKING!!!

Posted by: on June 15, 2004 10:49 AM .

where has everyone who used to post on the official message board gone to post now? is there a place for us fans to gather now?

Posted by: * on June 15, 2004 06:05 PM .

Yeah, it's called "Here".

Posted by: ÿ on June 15, 2004 06:07 PM .

oh, it's actually kind of dead in here! lol

Posted by: * on June 15, 2004 06:12 PM .

The MSN groups have become a bit more active, and I think right now people are still trying to figure out what happened...even who to trust and all that.

Posted by: on June 18, 2004 08:23 AM .

Not quite sure what you mean about wondering "who to trust"? Why would anyone have to worry about that?

Posted by: on June 21, 2004 06:12 AM .

If only you knew the story, or at least what I know of the story. Lots of intrigue, that's all I can say b/c I don't know all details.

Posted by: on June 21, 2004 07:07 AM .

why r u ladies bothering? forget about it and move on

Posted by: on June 21, 2004 07:27 AM .

"If only you knew..." yadda yadda yadda

Then how can you say if you don't know all the details? If you've only heard part of the story and haven't lived it, it is simply hearsay, greatly influenced (prejudiced, if you will) by the person who told it to you. In order to know "all of the story", you would not only have to hear all that person had to say but would have to hear the other side as well. Besides, I'm extremely leery of people who claim to "know" stuff but refuse to divulge the information because most of the time, they are just bull-shitting and really don't know anything at all but are just trying to stir up trouble.

Posted by: on June 27, 2004 08:54 AM .

agreed it really is all so zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZ !!!

Posted by: on June 27, 2004 09:32 AM .

Yeah, I understand that, like I don't trust those who have to brag that they know where Frew lives but their lips are sealed. So the story is a fan on Alan's board set up a hoax and got found out. Wasn't the first time this person had caused a problem, and she's bragged about it. They found out. End of board, end of story.

Posted by: on June 27, 2004 02:03 PM .

Nobody set up a hoax. One fan went Fatal Attraction on there (the one who tried to explain her side of the story earlier here) and got overly weirdly obsessive, thinking she was with Alan and stuff like that. After that happened, certain people tried posting as different people, not knowing that the board owner knew who they were. If that's the "hoax" you were talking about, its not much of one.

Posted by: on June 29, 2004 06:20 AM .

Awwww, you people are no fun any more!

Posted by: on July 4, 2004 04:48 PM .

One fan did go fatal attraction, and tried to dupe a few people along the way. Now she's in hiding.
